    • 1 x Rema Haymour Jomaa Post-Graduate Scholarship in Palestine Studies ($2,500)

  • The Award is open to graduate students in the Doctoral program (years one through six), and the Master's program (years one through four - course-based or thesis-based) at the University of Alberta with research focusing on Palestine Studies. The research topics include, but are not limited to, socio-cultural, historical, religious and/or political issues pertinent to the study of Palestine and/or Palestinians.

    Selections are based on the applicant's superior academic achievement (equivalent to a GPA of 3.5/4.0). This award is open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and foreign nationals holding Canadian study permits

  • July 15th, 2024

  • Deadline has been extended to September 15th.

    • A complete application package in a single PDF document should include the following materials:

      • A letter of application by the student describing the student’s work:

        • A maximum of 500-word application letter describing the student’s research project and its relevance to the Award indicating how this scholarship will further that research. (1 page, single sided, single spaced, 12-point font, Times New Roman).

      • A maximum of three-page CV, highlighting the student’s academic accomplishments.

      • A transcript of the academic record (downloaded/scanned copies are acceptable):

        • PhD and MA transcripts for PhD student

        • BA and MA transcripts for MA students

      • Three letters of signed, dated, and current (less than one year old) reference letters (references from friends are discouraged and references from family members will not be accepted).

  • Strong applications will emphasize the student’s:

    • Maturity and a commitment to their studies;

    • Motivation to be engaged meaningfully in their community and the world at large.

  • Students will be notified by email of the status of their application in early November. Students must notify the Office of AREF of any changes to their application before October 4th 2024.
